MARKHAM, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2006--As a technology leader in the workstation graphics market, ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY)(NASDAQ:ATYT) is dedicated to developing and supporting key industry transitions such as the movement to 64-bit computing to enable a more highly developed experience for end users. As the complexity of design and content creation grows exponentially, the movement to 64-bit computing will open up new opportunities for customers to create elaborate projects without significantly affecting production timelines.

ATI's FireGL(TM) products are supported by a unified driver, which is tested and certified by professional 3D ISV partners, making system administration and upgrades cost effective and simple. Applications certified for FireGL workstation graphics accelerators, supporting either 32-bit on the 64-bit operating system or supporting 64-bit natively include SOFTIMAGE(R)/XSI(R), Maya(R), SolidWorks(R), MSC.Patran, Inventor, UGS NX and ANSYS(R).

"We dedicate our resources to key technology transitions that will transform the day to day experience for our customers and partners and the transition to 64-bit will be an important milestone in the workstation market," said Dinesh Sharma, Director, Workstation Products, ATI Technologies Inc. "By continuing to leverage our close relationships with our partners on the application side, we continue to drive innovation and bring the best possible experience to end users."

"Professional designers and engineers rely on their workstations to be stable and predictable in their performance, which is why this certification effort with ATI and 64-bit OS is critical for our users," said Fielder Hiss, Manager, Product Management, SolidWorks Corporation (NASDAQ: DASTY). "The transition to 64-bit computing means that SolidWorks customers can continue to push the level of sophistication of their designs to a higher level than the application could support with 32-bit OS computing."

"Today, the complexity of the 3D projects our customers undertake increasingly requires the power and robustness of the native 64-bit version of SOFTIMAGE/XSI to give artists even more freedom to create extremely detailed scenes and characters for film, games and commercials," said Gareth Morgan, Senior Product Manager, Softimage Co., a subsidiary of Avid Technology, Inc. "The certification process with ATI ensures that our customers can depend on the increased functionality of 64-bit computing."

"Time sensitivity in product development forces ANSYS users to demand the utmost in flexibility and performance from both their hardware and software," said Prashant Ambe, Vice President at ANSYS, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANSS). "By fully testing and ensuring complete compatibility and reliability with ATI's FireGL graphics accelerators, we can confidently have our customers explore the possibilities with 64-bit computing."

"The move to 64-bit computing will transform the workstation industry and open up a world of possibilities for developers and end users alike to explore and is the reason that Intel is leading the charge with this technology," said Jim Pappas, Director of Technology Initiatives, Digital Enterprise Group, Intel. "As with the recent move to PCI Express, ATI continues to demonstrate its leadership in workstation graphics with their support of 64-bit computing and delivering increasing value and performance to customers."
