BFG Technologies ha annunciato, mediante il comunicato stampa allegato di seguito, la realizzazione di quattro nuove schede grafiche di classe GeForce 8: si tratta delle GeForce 8600 GT OC e GeForce 8600 GT OC2, entrambe disponibili nelle varianti con 256Mb e 512Mb di memoria locale in architettura G-DDR3.

Le nuove schede grafiche, già lanciate peraltro sul mercato USA ed europeo, sono fortemente caratterizzate dalla tecnologia utilizzata per il raffreddamento delle gpu, che è sviluppata da ThermoIntelligence.

La soluzione di cooling adottata consente, in accordo al produttore delle card, una brusca riduzione della temperatura operativa, pur senza incrementare il livello di rumore complessivo e senza sacrificare spazio per schede aggiuntive. Per fissare le idee, nel caso di 2 GeForce 8600 connesse in topologia SLI, il sistema di cooling di ThermoIntelligence può ridurre la temperatura operativa della scheda primaria di circa 18°C.

Bigger isn’t always better
Better cooling solutions often come at the expense of space inside your computer, many of them taking up two add-in card slots when installed. The BFG 8600 GT series with ThermoIntelligence fansinks only use a single PCI Express slot, leaving you with room for other add-in cards.

Quiet by design
Many custom cooling solutions today increase the fan speed to reduce temperatures, but this results in excess noise. The 8600 GT ThermoIntelligence fansink was specifically designed not to increase acoustic noise while providing, on average, an 11°C lower GPU load temperature. For users running two graphic cards in an NVIDIA SLI configuration, the thermal performance improves with the primary graphics card operating at up to 18°C cooler
