Apple ha presentato le nuove workstation Mac Pro.
L'offerta è composta da due modelli, uno con 4 Core e l'altro con ben 8 CPU.
Il Mac Pro Quad-Core è costruito attorno ad una coppia di processori Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" Dual-Core disponibili con frequenze di 2.0GHz, 2.66GHz, o 3.0GHz; Apple afferma che un Mac Pro Quad-Core a 3GHz è due volte più veloce di un Power Mac G5 Quad.
Il Mac Pro Eight-Core, invece è disponibile solo con una coppia di processori Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Clovertown” con frequenza di 3.0GHz.
Ogni Mac Pro può montare fino a 4 dischi per una capacità totale di 3TB, ha otto slot per un totale di 16GB di Ram e quattro slot PCI-Express; possono inoltre essere inclusi due masterizzatori SuperDrive.
Il comparto video è composto da (fino a quattro) schede video a scelta fra: Nvidia GeForce 7300GT, ATI Radeon X1900XT, o Nvidia Quadro FX 4500; tutte compatibili con il monitor da 30" Apple Cinema HD.

Opt for the 8-core Mac Pro and you get the power of two Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Clovertown” processors running at 3.0GHz. Or choose a quad-core Mac Pro featuring two Dual-Core Intel Xeon “Woodcrest” processors and decide how fast they fly: 2.0GHz, 2.66GHz, or 3.0GHz. At 3.0GHz, the quad-core Mac Pro runs up to 2x faster than the Power Mac G5 Quad.

Mac Pro accommodates up to four drives and 3TB of storage, offers eight DIMM slots to fill with up to 16GB of RAM, and provides up to two SuperDrives. It also gives you four PCI Express slots and lots of I/O options for ultimate flexibility.
