LaCie ha annunciato gli hard drive esterni denominati 2big USB 3.0 6TB e LaCie d2 USB 3.0 3TB. Si tratta di unità in grado di abbinare una elevatissima capacità di memorizzazione, pari a 6TB nel primo caso e a 3TB nel secondo, ad un livello di di performance che si colloca al top della categoria di appartenenza.
Il drive 2big USB 3.0 6TB include hard drive da 3TB connessi in RAID; la connettività USB 3.0 permette, in accordo al produttore, di ottenere una velocità di lettura pari a 306MB/s (questo valore è superiore del 20% rispetto a quello offerto dalle soluzioni equivalenti USB 2.0). Analogamente, il drive d2 USB 3.0 3TB, che è equipaggiato con un HDD da 3TB, vanta un boost prestazionale rispetto alle versioni equivalenti USB 2.0.
I nuovi LaCie 2big USB 3.0 6TB e LaCie d2 USB 3.0 3TB saranno disponibili sul mercato internazionale a partire dai primi di novembre.

Thanks to the inclusion of 3TB hard drives and the performance of USB 3.0, LaCie's 2big USB 3.0, now available in 6TB, achieves a dramatic 20% speed boost by reaching 306MB/s –the fastest performance of any 2-bay RAID solution to-date. The d2 USB 3.0 also demonstrates a significant speed increase of 156MB/s with the inclusion of a 3TB hard drive.
