Si tratta della prima solzione per desktop di S3 Graphics compatible con le API DirectX 10.1 di Microsoft. La gpu della Chrome 430 GT è prodotta con un processo tecnologico a 65nm, ha una frequenza di clock pari a 625MHz ed è configurata per operare con 256Mb di RAM G-DDR2 a 500MHz.
La Chrome 430 GT supporta PCI Express 2.0, D-SUB e DVI (con HDCP); l'engine proprietario, ChromotionHD 2.0, permette la decodifica dei formati MPEG-4/AVC (H.264), MPEG-2, VC-1, WMV-HD e AVS, tipicamente utilizzati per la gestione del contenuto multimediale dei dischi Blu-ray e HD-DVD.
