Con il comunicato stampa che vi mostriamo di seguito, la software house Epic Games e il publisher Square Enix hanno annunciato il raggiungimento di un accordo a seguito del quale la prima ha concesso la licenza d'uso del suo motore grafico Unreal Engine 3 alla seconda.
Il publisher, che ha sede in Giappone, sarà affiancato dalla divisione nipponica di Epic Games nello sviluppo di un non meglio precisato numero di titoli basati proprio sulla tecnologia Unreal Engine 3.
Il comunicato risulta essere opportunamente lacunoso in merito ai nuovi giochi, di cui non sono state indicate nè la numerosità nè la tipologia; tuttavia Square Enix promette di dare ai suoi tipici personaggi e alle sue storie una nuova animazione proprio in virtù dell'adozione dell'Unreal Engine 3.
Epic Games, Inc. today announced an agreement with Square Enix Co., Ltd. granting Square Enix a license to develop multiple games with Epic’s award-winning Unreal Engine 3 technology. Epic Games Japan, which supports the company’s licensees locally, worked directly with Square Enix on the new license.

Details about the games using the Unreal Engine under this license agreement will be revealed by Square Enix.
